Adventure

Hello Friends!

This is a mixed feeling post.

We are losing another colleague, and she is going to the client side (Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada). I am happy for her but at the same time sad that she is leaving.

She is going to be a project manager for lands as she has the skills to research and map lands. There is potential for movement, and she definitely made right choice.

Our job is researching in Indian Lands, so I created this card for her.

I used the Up & Away Thinlits dies, and sponged the hot air balloon with crumb cake, pumpkin pie, real red, and pacific point.

Because this card is too thick for an envelope, I had to figure a way to close the card. I added two mini magnets to the underside of the cloud.

So when you pop the card open, the word ADVENTURE pops open. Notice how I weave the trees in? The trees are from the Santa Sleigh Framelits (140278) and trimmed off the stump so that the trees are at different heights.

When you open the card freely, there is enough room for colleagues to sign the card.

CCDT Blog Hop: Haunted Halloween

Welcome to the Creative Circle Design Team blog hop. Firstly, I like to introduce you to two additional new team members who just joined us.

Jay Soriano
Jay is a demo in the UK and just started with Stampin' Up! not too long ago. Jay has a fine art painting background and he will be bringing some great creativity to the team!

You can find his blog https://mitosustampin.blogspot.ca.

Stesha Bloodhart
Stesha is a demo in River Fall, WI. I love her style and she was voted for the best card on Kylie Bertucci's International Stampin' Up! Blog Highlight. She used to be demo between 2003-2008 and now rejoined again to get back into papercrafting!

You can find her blog at www.stampinhoot.com.

Both will bring great different creative ideas to the team. Great to have you both here!

Next, we move to this month's hop ... Haunted Halloween.

I have never been so excited about Halloween but when I needed a holding box for my test tubes, I came up with this great holder!

The size measures 1-1/2" (w) x 1-1/2" (d) x 5" (h).

When I originally created the holder I was very unhappy because the tube kept on twirling around and it would not sit straight. I had to go back to the drawing board, and add a small holder at the bottom. The test tube now snaps into the holder and even when you tip it upside down, the tube will not fall out.

I went to the Candy Aisle and purchased M&Ms (black & orange colors - Halloween colors) and filled the tubes with M&Ms.

What makes this a fun piece was that the Detailed Gate was added in front of the holder. It is trimmed down to fit the holder. I used my ecutter and MISTI to do some fussy cutting before coloring the pumpkins from the Seasonal Chums set.

I wanted the test tubes to be more spooky, so I created my own bats and cut them out with my ecutter. The googlie eyes were then attached to the bats.
Although my DP was recently retired from the Occasion Catalog, not matter what you have on hand, you can see the versatility of any orange DPs that Stampin' Up! carries.

I will be doing a FB Live on my FB Business Page on Saturday, October 7, at 10:00 a.m., Pacific Time, here https://www.facebook.com/lizhollowaydesign/ and would love you to join me.

WANT A FREE SVG FILE?  Want to make them? Everyone who joins me during my LIVE feed and comments, like, or love on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. PST, will receive a FREE SVG file for your electronic cutter. The zip file will contain the test tube pattern and 2 bat sizes.  So be sure to like my page so that you get new notifications when I post.

Now hop on to my teams' sites! I wonder what Haunted Halloween they have come up with!

Magical Mermaid

Hello Friends!

I always love when I get asked to create a card for that special person. It is such a thrill and honour.

My co-worker asked me to create a card for her little girl, who is turning 5 this Friday and her favourite icon is Mermaid.

Although two stamp sets are retired, they are still my all time favourite. I stamped the background with craft Whisper White onto DP, and embossed it with White embossing powder, and then layered the DP to a mat card (4" x 5-1/4") which is then layered onto a 4-1/4" x 11" Whisper White thick cardstock.

She saw my PopUp Twist insert when I made a card for another co-worker who was leaving us and asked if I could do the same. The PopUp Twist Insert was such a breeze because I already have the file made up so no more cutting and measuring. Just open and send it to the ecutter. If you want a copy of the file, it is located here http://selz.co/V17swKkoQ.

I used the Seaside Shore and various DPs to create an ocean scenery. You can see this in action here - https://www.facebook.com/lizhollowaydesign/videos/745965908933761/

Stamps: Magical Mermaid, Seaside Shore, From Land to Sea (Retired), By the Tide (Retired)

Papers: Whisper White Thick, Whisper White cs, Crumb Cake, Tranquil Tide, Mint Macaron (Retired), Naturally Eclectic DP, Coffee Break DP, Watercolor Paper

Inks: Sahara Sand, Whisper White Craft, Pacific Point

Accessories: Daubers, Heat Tool, Embossing Buddy, White Embossing Powder

Halloween & Fall Blog Hop

Hello Friends!

I am so pleased to join Tami White and her team "Stamp It Group" on this Halloween & Fall blog hop.

Halloween is not big in our family, especially when my boys are older now, and they don't care for it except for eating Halloween candies.

I decided to do a fall theme using the Merry Patterns which hosts can get when she/he hosts a $375 (Cdn) or $300 (US) workshop only available during October and November. I wanted to show you that the candles are not just for Christmas, but you can use this during the fall season with fall colors.

I love presenting my cards in some kind of holder, in which this case the pizza box in the holiday catalog on p. 44 (144645). The lid is exposed so that the recipient can see what is inside the box. It is also a great way to add a coffee gift card to thank those who you are thankful for.

I cut the oval with my e-cutter but if you don't have an e-cutter, just use your nesting oval #4. You will need to pass through the die cutting couple of times to cut through the thickness.

If you want a copy of the SVG file, just enter a comment below and I would be happy to give you an SVG template.

For the 3x3 cards, I used my e-cutter to do all the fussy cutting, and then stamped in archival black with the MISTI. From there, two step stamping with Tangerine Tango ink and Garden Green ink. Popped the candles on #3 nesting ovals, and then on #4 nesting ovals.

I die cut the small maple leafs and attached it to the bottom right of the card.

Oh, did you also know that we have a Blog Hop Give-a-away. You will have a chance to win the "Oh Happy Day Card Kit". The winner will be announced on October 21.

Accessories: Big Shot, Seasonal Layers Thinlits (143751). Oval Framelits, Mini Pizza Boxes (144645), Wink of Stella

Papers: Glossy Card Stock, Delightful Daisy DP, Tangerine Tango
Inks: Garden Green, Tangerine Tango, So Saffron

Happy Birthday! x3

Hello Friends!

Edited: Sept. 23, 2017. FB Live started at 9:00 a.m. on FB Business Page.

A free pattern was given to those who attended live. Thank you so much for your support!

If you missed it, the pattern can be purchased here.

I needed to create a couple of birthday cards for my nephews and my sister.

I have not played with the pop up twist in a while, and wanted to be different. I wanted a WOW factor for my nephews and my sister (who is also a cardmaker) so I decided to work on a Happy Birthday insert to work with the pop up twist. After fiddling around with the measurements, I finally got it to work.

Card 1:
Nathan turned 19. His goals are to become a certified mechanic. He has been dwindling on beefing his car, so I made this card using the Lift Me Up set. This set reminds me of GO FOR YOUR DREAMs.
Here is the inside of the card.

Although there is some effort in fiddling around with the pop up twist to make sure that the elements are not creeping out the sides. I am constantly folding and positioning the hot air balloons.

I brought the Hot Air Balloons and clouds inside the card. Below, I inserted money so that he can purchase whatever he wants.

Stamps: Lift Me Up
Inks: Pacific Point
Papers: Whisper White, Pacific Point, Birthday Memories DP, Basic Black, Lemon Lime Twist, Lift Me Up Coordinating Dies
Accessories: Big Shot, Softly Falling EF, Mini Dimensionals, Regular Dimensionals, Large Numbers Framelits
Personal Files: e-Cutter, Happy Birthday Pop Up

Card 2:
Owen turned 16. I know he plays a lot of soccer still, so this card was perfect for him. I don't have any soccer stamp set so I was going through my stash of embossing folders and dies, and came up with my own background.

The soccer ball was remnants from the dies, so I just used a 2" circle punch to create the soccer ball. The grass was cut and tucked the soccer ball between the grass.

Inside also contains the Happy Birthday Pop Up, and then I printed soccer ball images and fussy cut them out. Behind the pattern paper also holds money so he too can buy whatever he wishes.

Stamps: Love Sparkles
Inks: Basic Black
Papers: Whisper White, Basic Black, Birthday Memories Suite DP, Old Olive
Accessories: Big Shot, 2" circle punch, Hexagon Die, Honeycomb EF
Personal Files: Soccer Ball, Grass, Happy Birthday Pop Up, e-Cutter

Card 3:
And then my wonderful sister! I won't mention how old she is. She just loves to cook and bake.

When I assembled the inside of the card, I realized that I should have done the background in a different color. Needless to say, still happy with results!

Instead of giving her money, I gave her 5 precut cards so that she can make her own Pop Up Twist for someone special.
Stamps: Birthday Delivery, Beautiful You,
Inks: Whisper White Craft
Papers: Merry Little Christmas DP, Basic Black, Whisper White, Birthday Memories Suit
Accessories: Big Shot, Happy Birthday Die, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Stampin' Dimensionals

I hope you enjoyed this project. Live in Canada? Come shop with me as I provide these files to my clients, or cut for them as an added bonus.
